The Hearing Health Clinic offers a full wax removal service using either ear irrigation with water or microsuction.
Water is inserted gently into the ear to remove wax, and is a suitable technique for people who do not have perforation in their ears or who have not had previous ear surgery.
You may feel a little dizzy during or after the procedure has taken place due to the effect of having water sprayed into your ear but this will pass quickly. Irrigation can be done either at Spire Shawfair Park Hospital or in the comfort of your own home.
Microsuction uses a microscope and a very small suction tool that vacuums the wax out of your ears. It can be quite a noisy procedure but no water is involved.
This procedure is currently only available at the clinic at Spire Shawfair Park Hospital, not at home.
